Cab units Green/white with double bands 1941-1949
The "A" unit body was painted green (sylvan), a second color (imitation aluminum) was applied from the cab around the nose then in a band at the bottom of the body to the rear.
A second band of imitation aluminum was applied just above the band at bottom of unit.
A 1 " duluxe (yellow) gold band separated the green and aluminum. The top of the body was painted imitation aluminum from the air intake grilles to the rear where the white curved down to the upper belt line. The rear was also painted white. The "B" units were painted in the same green with two bands on the lower body and the white on roof down the sides to the upper belt line then to the rear where it curved down to the second belt line. Both ends were white. Roadname lettering was S O U T H E R N in yellow block lettering located between the first and second air intakes and between the upper belt line and the roof. Road numbers, for example,2 8 0 0 were applied behind the cab ladder and under the air intake. Route names, The Crescent #2902 & 2903, The Southerner #2800 & #2801 and The Tennessean #2900 & #2901 were applied ahead of the cab ladder in the upper white band. Frame, trucks and pilots were painted black, handrails were green and the horns were white. Round heralds were applied on the nose, metallic gold background with green letters.
