AAR DESIGNATIONS for TANK CARS-1956

TM Tank Car equipped with container of ARA or AAR Specification I, II, III, III Experimental Welded Seams, IV, 203, 203-W, 203-X or ICC specification 103, 104-W or Specification Emergency USG-A, USG-B or USC-G.
TA Tank Car equipped with container of ICC Specification 103-A, 103-AW, 103-C and 103-CW. Also, ARA II, ARA III or ICC-103 if containers were originally designed or subsequently reconstructed to comply with the requirements of ICC-103-A cars.
TL Tank car equipped with container lined with any material other than glass.
TG Tank car equipped with one or more glass lined containers.
TMU Tank car equipped with containers of ARA specification VI, B.E. Spec. 27, ICC spec. 27,106A500, 106A800, or 107A**** series.
TP Tank car equipped with container of ARA spec. IV*, IV-A, V or ICC spec. 104*, 104-A,104-AW,105, 105A300, 105A300-W, 105A400, 105A500-W, 105A600 or 105A600-W. Also lagged and jacketed. Transportation of gasoline, etc.
TR Tank car equipped with a container of ARA or AAR spec. 201-A-35-X or ICC spec. 103-AL and 103-C-AL. Containers made of aluminum.
TW Tank Car equipped with one or more wooden containers.
Note 1: Where containers are insulated the letter "I" is affixed.
